It's Here!

You know you were worried!

PS: I didn't get mine off of ebay, because they got a new shipment in at the store. But, they aren't that much more on ebay!

Cool It

Okay, ya'll. I need some help. I am heartbroken, and today I faced my own personal tragedy. I left right after school to go to Vera. The only reason I made the trip is because for a limited time they are selling super cute mini coolers on the cheap. Some of you know that our family goes to a lot of Ranger games, and I was very excited about rocking the cooler at the games this year. Mock me if you must, but I don't enjoy drinking $5 water.

WELL, I got there, and THEY WERE OUT. OF COOLERS. How am I supposed to rock the games now? Sigh. I think I freaked the ladies out at the store by sharing with them how depressed I was about this whole situation. Luckily, they said there is a chance that they may get more in and I am 20th on the waiting list. So...I'll let ya'll know if I get a call. PS: They are already all over ebay, which just makes me mad. I would not sell my cooler. I would love it.

Baby Shower and Cupcakes...original I know

Last night I helped host a shower for one of my very best friends, Jessica. Her second son, Eli, will be here in just six weeks, so it was time to get ready! Now, Jessica has had a bit of a rough go of it this time. She has gestational diabetes, and she's on insulin shots, so we had to made sure we had plenty of food there she could eat. I, for one, know I stuffed myself full of veggies (a little) and quesadillas (a lot).

It just wouldn't be a shower, though, without a little something sweet! We decided to do cupcakes, and I quickly volunteered since I have quite a bit of affection for those cups of cake. My mom bought me a cupcake tree awhile back, and I love any chance to use it. Plus, I can't pass up a chance to use all those scrapbook supplies I have. Especially since I have given up scrapbooking. Ha! I think the end product turned out pretty cute...and they were yummy too! (Jessica as soon as those crazy diabetes go away, I'll bring you some.) Here are some pics from the shower:

The McLife Turns 100!

This blog is getting old. This is my 100th post. It's kind of like the 100th episode of a television show, but with a lot less publicity.

I did figure I needed to celebrate in style, so in true blog fashion I am hosting my first giveaway! Why, do you ask? Because all the cool kids do it. And I have always thought it would be fun to do one. And my blog is old now and it can do whatever it wants.

So without further ado...I present the Amanda's Favorite Things Giveaway!

1. Wooden Hope Sign...I love me some wooden signs. They can be hung on the wall, they can sit on an easel, they even look good leaned up against a wall...the possibilities are endless.

2. Pride and Prejudice DVD...Best movie ever. Enough said. Watch it yourself and find out.

3. Books...How can a librarian have a favorite things list and not put books on it? These are two of my favorite authors.

4. Reusable Shopping Bag...Because there really isn't any excuse not to use them. Unless you forget them in your car...again (not that that ever happens to me).

4. Spring Sign...It's green (fave color), glittery (love it!), and it is a seasonal decoration (obsessed!).

Just leave a comment on this post by this Saturday to be entered to win (I'll tell you how to get ahold of me when I announce the winner Sunday). Since I am assuming that all of about 3 people will enter to win, it is likely that I will just be able to deliver the goods to you in person. If you live far away, though, I will mail it to you. So, let the Amanda's Favorite Things Giveaway commence. You know you're excited.

The "Men" in My Life

I met a new friend of mine this morning. His name is Michael...no relation to the other Michael in my life. He is oh so red and pretty. Oh, and he has shiny buckles. But we have hit a snag in our relationship. He has given me very sad feet. Feet that scream for band aids. It was bound to happen. I knew there would be a few rough patches in our relationship. There's always that "getting used to each other" period. I mean, he's probably not going to be too happy with me when he realizes that I work with children who like to step on my toes.

In the meantime, I have gone back to hanging out with my good friend Tom. He's cute and knows what really matters to me: comfort. Don't all the relationship experts say that all women want relationships where they feel safe and secure? Well, Tom fits the bill. I may just have to look and see if he has any brothers. I could go for a couple more Toms in my life. Like this guy...

In unrelated shoe-news...I could totally use these in my life. You know Patternitis flairs up when you least expect it.

I am not a criminal...I promise

There is something about me that you don't know. Something that you may judge me for. But don't. It's not my fault. I try to leave stores without paying for things...a lot. Today was one of those days, but this time it was not my fault! I was at Target this afternoon really proud of myself as I walked out the door. I had only spent 30 dollars, and I had gotten a bunch of food, some containers, and even a hardback book! Then it struck me...there was no way! So...out came the receipt. Sure enough, the lady hadn't charged me for the book. Sigh. Off to the customer service line I went. Have I mentioned that this same thing happens to me all the time at Target? Maybe they are just trying to give me free stuff. Who knows? All I know is that every time I walk up and explain that I didn't pay for something, they look at me kind of weird. But they always take the money.

Like I said, though, this is not the only time this has happened to me. I am that girl who rolls out with the soft drinks under the cart...only to have to roll back into the store hoping someone doesn't arrest me.

My finest moment, though, came at the self check out stand. Scan the items. Check. Put them in the bag. Check. Walk out of the store. Wait. Oh, that's right. I did it. It hit me as I was driving away that I had never actually paid for the stuff. So...back into the store I went. And I actually had to convince them that I had not paid. Again, I got the crazy girl look.

Here's the thing. Never have I been chased down or arrested. Apparently, I have that innocent look about me. But watch out stores...I just may take your stuff. But when I figure it out, I'll always come back and pay for it. I promise.

In The Library

Sweet Kindergarten:

"I know another president...Martin Luther!"
"He's not a president...he's a king!"

"We can't go to Abraham Lincoln's birthday party, because it's in heaven. And we're not."

They crack me up!

Blog Stuff

UPDATE: Nelle, it is kind of hard to see all the steps. Once you are done with your scrapblog, you have to publish it. Once you publish it, you can go to File up at the top and click on export as JPEG. This should let you save it to your computer!

Yes. I am still here. Not much to say these days. Same old same old. I did have one thing to report. Someone asked me recently about how I did my blog. In the past, I created everything using Photoshop (time consuming!) and free digital scrapbooking materials I found online. This time, though, I decided to add some pictures, and I didn't want to take the time to create anything. I used Scrapblog to create my header. Check it out...it's so easy!
