Rangers Opening Day 2013

Opening Day definitely looks a little different for us since we moved away from Texas, but we still support our Rangers from afar. Mike was away at school for this year's opening day, but the rest of the McDonough clan was here including Papa and Aunt Amy. I think everyone has pretty much decided I'm not to be left alone overnight anymore, and I can't say that I blame them. These babies are getting heavy. I think the boys actually slept through most of the game, but they supported them in style!

Sweet Ben on his first Opening Day!

 Max cheesing for the camera...

What trying to get a picture of them together looks like...at least I caught the (blurry) one up at the top on my phone.

 A little better...

Nope...done.

Ready for Some Baseball

I busted out the good ol' Silhouette SD tonight to make sure Max is ready for Texas Rangers' Opening Day tomorrow. If you look hard you'll see plenty of imperfections, but it was my first time working with the heat transfer material. And I figure he'll grow out of it by the All Star Break, and I'll have to make another!

Rangers Time!

Over Spring Break, we took a McDonough trip to see our fabulous Texas Rangers at their spring training complex in Surprise, AZ. Now, ya'll. I'm not going to lie. I was super nervous about this trip. Taking an 18-month-old to a hotel and baseball games didn't exactly scream "vacation" to me. And when our flight got cancelled the first day and we ended up on planes and in airports for 12 hours, it wasn't looking pretty. BUT...I have to say that it was SO much fun and Max did so great! I am so happy that we had the chance to go hang out with family and spend some time checking out the guys. (That didn't come out right, but you know what I mean. I hope.)

Here are a few pictures from our days at the ball fields. Max loved hanging out with Aunt Amy and Papa, running around in the grass, and playing. Drinking Aunt Amy's frozen sweet tea may have been the highlight of his trip...maybe his life!

Check out Max trying to photo bomb us

This is where he took his naps. Behind the seats at the game. He was out!

Yes. This happened. My brother made me this to commemorate the occasion, but I didn't buy a new shirt. Baby wipes work wonders.

World Series

Although by this point we know how it all ended, we are proud of our Texas Rangers and had a great time attending World Series game 3 while we were in Texas. What an experience!

Ranger T-Shirt

Well, the American League Championship Series is well under way, and we love our Texas Rangers! Sometimes I feel like we are kinda out of the loop out here in Mississippi, since of course they waited until we moved to go to the playoffs two years in a row. So, since we are missing some of the excitement, I decided Max needed something fun to get in on the action! That walk-off grand slam last night pretty much sealed the deal on the design...

I used my Silhouette SD and the new fabric ink and stencil set. If I did it again I would use the heat transfer material, but I accidentally ordered fabric ink. The ink bled just a little around the edges, and the heat transfer would have looked more crisp. Working with what I have here!

The process was fairly simple. And just as a side note, you can use freezer paper to make stencils. There are lots of tutorials out there, it's cheaper, and it may eliminate the bleed through. Wish I had thought of that!

Baseball Time!

April 2011

Things have changed a lot around here during the off season, but one thing has stayed the same. We still love our Texas Rangers! Welcome back, guys!

Spring Fever

Amy's graduation just happened to be in Phoenix, Arizona, which was very convenient for our baseball loving family. Why? Spring Training of course!

We got to town a few days early to take in the Rangers training and games. It was especially great since we won't be in Texas for the season this year...so sad! We had a great time, and it was so neat to see the players up close. Amy's (and our) friend Erin and her husband came too, and Erin and Mike got a ton of autographs. One day we even looked over and Nolan Ryan was sitting next to us! You should have seen all the people trying to sneak around and get his autograph.

Here's to a great season, Rangers!

Opening Day!

Opening Day has come and gone. Sigh. But...that just means that baseball season is here! We love baseball season here in the McDonough house (it has been an aquired taste for me I must admit). My dad worked for the Rangers when I was younger though, so I have always enjoyed being out at the stadium. I just love everything about it.

Yesterday was super fun. We went out to the annual tailgate for just a little bit, because it was SO COLD! I thought my hands were going to freeze off. Luckily, it was much warmer inside the stadium and out of the wind. I had to slather up with the good ol' SPF 50 that everyone laughs at me for. Not everyone, though, because a lady definitely stopped and asked me if she could use some. Apparently it is my goal to be known as the "girl who brings sunscreen."

Caleb before his GiGi got there to convince him to put in his earplugs.

Post earplugs and with food...much better.

Captain...Not as cool as the yellow chicken from back in the day, but whatev.

Overall, a great day at the ballpark! Now we just have to convince Jessica to come back...apparently getting your face broken by a ball makes you not want to come back!
