Texas According to My iPhone

Max and I spent a week in Texas this month while Mike did school work. Despite my best intentions, I always forget to take pictures while I am there. We had a great time visiting with family, and the week went by fast. Here are a few pictures of Max from my phone while we were there. I know they aren't the best, but apparently Texas makes me lazy these days!

What? It's almost baseball season? Yes!

Taking a bath in the kitchen...

Big boy car seat

Sitting in a high chair at a restaurant for the first time. And trying to eat the string on my sister's birthday balloon.

Eating balloons wears him out. He passed out. Pay no attention to the gross underside of the table. Ew.

Ready for Church

Church wears him out, too. He passed out in the foyer.

Huh?

Sitting in a cart for the first time. At Target, of course.

Have your people call my people.

5 Months

Max, on February 11 you turned five months old! These days time seems to be flying by, and you are changing every day. You are getting a lot more curious about the world around you, and you are getting more coordinated every day. We have so much fun playing with you and laughing at your crazy faces and personality. We can't wait to see what you do next! Here are a few things about your life right now:

-You are wearing size 3-6 month and 6 month clothes (okay, and some 9 month). You can wear size 2 and 3 diapers.

-You are still taking 3 or 4 naps a day. Sometimes you decide to only take 2 and by the time the evening rolls around you are a HOT MESS. You go to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 usually, and you sleep until 7:30 or 8:00.

-You are a drooling machine, and you grab anything and everything to chomp down on. You love to chew on stuff. Don't know if this is just a baby thing, a teething thing, or a little of both!

-You love playing with your daddy. You think he is just too funny. You just learned how to stick out your tongue and blow to make silly noises, and ya'll have fun going back and forth.

-We don't have pets, but you love to watch them when we go to other people's houses.

-You have learned how to scream. Just for fun. Really loud.

-You love to go places. You just look fascinated by everything around you. I'm pretty sure Target is your favorite. That could just be me, though.

Chicken Fried

I'm no food stylist (or photographer), but there are few things in life as good as my grandmother's fried chicken, potato salad, and gravy and bread. Yum! Thanks Nana!

Texas Time

Max and I have been relaxing in Texas this week. It's good to spend a little time in the Lone Star State now and then. Max is gearing up for baseball season...it's right around the corner!

Just Eat It

Yesterday Max got his first food! The ever delicious rice cereal was on the menu, and he did great. I don't think he had any idea what was going on at first, but he got the hang of it. And by "got the hang of it" I mean he didn't spit the majority of it out. He's still a little confused about the difference between a bib and food, but we'll work on it. I'm sure we'll be moving on to more tasty choices very soon!

Mr. Pouty

I have been trying to capture Mr. Sad Face's "pouty look" on camera forever. This picture doesn't really do it justice, but here it is. This is the face he gives me when he gets scared, upset, mad...you name it. It's really sad, but I'm not going to lie. It kind of makes me laugh. It's just so cute! I'll work on getting a better picture of it, but you just never know with this guy...

Getting My Coupon On

Well, after months of lurking around couponing blogs and hearing various friends talking about saving money, I have decided to jump on the bandwagon. I have become a couponer. I kind of feel like I just admitted that I have an entire room of unicorn statues, but I'm not exactly sure why. And just for the record, I don't have any unicorn statues. That you know of.

Anyhow, the past few weeks, I have really started to figure out how to use coupons, where to use them, and the best time to use them. I really never knew before that couponing was any more than cutting out a piece of paper to save 30 cents on laundry detergent. And really, in the long run, was the 30 cents worth it? Not in my book! But, I am learning that by frequenting stores that double coupons, using store and manufacturer coupons together, and by using them on things that are already on sale, you really can save a ton of money! Without even trying all that hard, I have been saving up to 50 percent at the grocery store, and I know I can do even better than that! I'm not gonna lie. It's kind of addicting.

The only reason I have had any success at all is my favorite site, Southern Savers. Seriously, it's so easy! They tell you what's on sale, where, whether it's a good price, and what coupons are available for what you want to buy. Now, just for the record, I have no intention of traipsing all over town going to 5 different stores just to get the best price. For one thing, my town doesn't have 5 stores. For another, I don't want to get that into it. Southern Savers recommends choosing one grocery and one drug store to focus on, and that's what I'm doing.

So, here I go. I am determined to keep up with all these coupons and save our family money this year! My goal isn't to go crazy with it, but I really want to change our grocery budget. I want to be somewhere between never using coupons and that lady who gets blacklisted because she wants to use 100 coupons in one store visit. Although I do have a coupon binder. Don't judge. It's pretty.

Here are a few more sites I like, but really Southern Savers is the only one I consistently use:

The Krazy Coupon Lady
Coupon Geek
Money Saving Mom

Vacuuming is not my Favorite

I've been a little MIA lately, and I have absolutely no reason why. We've just been keeping out of the cold this week, and I've been trying to pretend that I keep my house clean. I realized yesterday that our vacuum had no filter in it, and it hasn't for about 2 months. The fact that it took me two months to realize that it wasn't working that well should speak for itself. In my defense, we have very little carpet in this house.

Anyhow, I probably have more exciting things to talk about, but right now I'm all out. So, how's about a few iphone photos? I know what ya'll really stop by here for, and it's not the stories about my vacuum.
