Run to Eat

I've been running. Sometimes, when I'm out there, I expect to look up and see pigs flying above me. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm going to keep watching. Last week I ran a mile without stopping. I know it's probably a little sad to be so excited about such a small distance, but ya'll. The last time I ran a mile without stopping I still Instant Messaged with people and Friends was nowhere near it's last season. Apparently those are my great cultural references, and yes I just made IM a verb.

In other news, the weight loss has been slow the past couple of weeks. I'm sure it's me just piling on the muscle. Or the fact that I feel the need to eat so much on the weekends. Either one. Sigh. I'm working on that.

In the meantime, I thought I would share some of my favorite snacks right now. I really wish that the following list consisted of celery sticks and garbanzo beans, but I do like my processed foods. I'm working on that one too.

VitaTops make me happy. They aren't a brownie, but they do satisfy my need for chocolate. Put a tiny amount of natural peanut butter on top and you have yourself one delicious snack.
Aged White Cheddar Pirate's Booty. Okay, I know this stuff has been around forever, but I had never tried it. And then I did. And now I can't get enough of the stuff. Luckily, they come in portion sized bags for those of us learning food willpower.

Are you noticing a trend here? I do love me some chips and salty snacks. I also like proper grammar, but for some reason it evades me.

Okay, those are my top 3 right now. Along with all the healthy whole grains, fruits, veggies, and nuts of course. Do you have any (mostly) healthy snacks I should know about? If you do, please share!

Texas in the Summer

Max and I went to visit family in Texas a couple of weeks ago, and we had a blast! We found out that this baby is a bit of a fish...he LOVED the pool! We were constantly on the go, and he was such a trooper. At this point, he's a bit of a traveling pro. I always feel like people are praying I don't sit next to them on the plane, but we have 8 flights together under our belts and no meltdowns yet! The secret? Lots and lots of food. Max has never met a food he didn't like. Here are a few cute pics (from my phone of course) from our trip.

Riding my new bike for the first time.

Cheese!

Napping on the go...with my blanket in my mouth of course.

We were very fortunate to get our own row in the back of the plane! I don't buy him his own seat, so we've had some fun trips pressed up against the window with some big ol' dudes next to us.

Pie Face

Our church's Vacation Bible School was a couple of week's ago, and Mike and I taught the fifth grade VBX again this year. It was a blast, and we had a fabulous week. At the end of the week Mike had to take a pie to the face, and who had the honor? Me, of course! I wore a poncho, because I knew Mike would be up to no good. Sure enough, he planted a big ol' pie-faced kiss on my cheek, and I had to retaliate by smearing pie in his hair. It was a lot of fun, and the kids thought it was hilarious, which is what we were going for. It was totally worth having lime flavored pie-filling in our hair all day!

Nine Months!

Max, you are NINE months old! I feel like you are getting SO big, and I am always saying, "well, when he was little..." You know. Because you are practically grown.

You are having so much fun being more mobile and independent, and even though it keeps me on my toes constantly, it's fun to watch you explore new things. Except when those new things are pieces of dog food. That's just gross. Here are a few things about you lately:

-You are a crawling machine. When you get excited or go after something you really want you go into "speed crawl" mode.
-You have mastered pulling up to your knees, and you are getting better everyday at standing all the way up. This means you have ruined lots of magazines and mail! Paper is your favorite. Along with anything produced by Apple.
-We took you swimming for the first time, and you absolutely love it! You love to kick your legs, and we're pretty sure you think you could just swim right off.
-You fall asleep every night with a blanket in your mouth. I guess it works for you.
-You just got your first tooth! It took awhile, but it finally showed up.
-You are eating more and more table foods. You love it all.
-You are such a happy little guy, and we love you more and more every day!

Batter Up!

Last weekend, Max went to his first baseball game. We went and saw the Memphis Redbirds play in Autozone Park with our church. We sat on the bluff, and at first he was not sure about the sloped grass, the loud announcers, the heat, and all the people. He about had a heart attack when I took him in the restroom to change his diaper. He came around, though, and I think he ended up liking it. We left before the fireworks, because it was already 10:00 and we were setting ourselves up for disaster with a sleepy baby and loud noises, but maybe by next year he will like them!

This is not going to work for me!

Okay, I'll give it a shot.

Crawling all over Daddy.

Those are what we call "husky" legs.

These pictures make me so happy, but I can't help but be a little nostalgic when I remember this picture. This dragon sure is growing!

Max's Room

Since Max is almost 9 months old, I thought it might be time to post some pictures of his nursery.
Here they are!

This is what was really going on while I was snapping pictures.

And this is how I put his picture back up on the wall until Mike informed me that our last name was not WcDonough. Oops.
