Oh no!

We have made a horrible mistake. We are PAYING someone to build a new house for us when it became very apparent today that we could have just built it ourselves. Okay...maybe not. But if we had all of these guys helping us we just might have been able to pull it off. Today our Synergy class and the Foundations class from the Young Marrieds department at Prestonwood helped Habitat for Humanity with a house in Dallas. Our mission: put the siding on a house. It was pretty dang hot out there, but I think everyone did a great job! I can't say that I contributed all that much, but I did help feed people. And food matters. A lot.


This is everyone learning how to put on siding...we weren't exactly experts before we got there!

Almost There

We had our final walk-through on our house yesterday! Everything looked great, so now we are just waiting to close. Here are some pictures. I'll have more someday after we move in.

I'm Still Here

Hello blog friends...sorry I have been gone for awhile. As you can see from the picture, I have been very busy with some very important stuff (hey, donuts are serious business). I went out of town with the Goffinet/Joyce clan last weekend, and we had a ton of fun. Our first stop was Round Rock Donuts (see the pic) where we couldn't fit the travel trailer through the drive-through...so we just walked. Then it was on to Schlitterbahn and a whole lot of shopping in San Marcos at the outlet malls. The only down side of the weekend was when my mom shut the car door on my fingers. That wasn't so fun, but it's okay. I look at the numbness in my fingers as a little souvenir. Only two weeks until we finally move...and there is still lots of packing to be done!

My New Best Friend

I think I am in love. I have wanted to go to Costco forever, but frankly I didn't want to waste the money getting a membership. I went today for the first time, and oh my! Now, I grew up going to Sam's. I am well aware of the thrills of gallon-sized mayonnaise and free samples. I have even been known to plan my Sam's visits at lunchtime so as to eat all the samples I could get my hands on (don't lie, you've done it too).

But Costco is a whole new world of fabulousness. I mean, where else can you go to get a new plasma TV, hardwood floors, engagement rings, and a 3 gallon vat of olive oil?? Actually, I was very impressed with their food selection. They have just about everything organic, including my favorite milk and a whole selection of frozen veggies. They also have paper goods made from recycled materials. AND for all of you Gorgeously Green girls out there, remember that shopping in bulk means less packaging and waste. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go eat something organic.

The first night there we went to see Wicked...amazing! We saw Mary Poppins the next night, and it was great!
