A-Fair 2011
Today was the annual A-fair in our town square, and we went out and checked out all the fun. The "a" stands for arts and crafts, but we all know shortening words is super cool. It's my fave thing. That and hangin' with my peeps.
Aunt Amy and Grandpa are here visiting, so Aunt Amy went with us. I didn't take any pictures, because I'm lame. Although not as lame as last year when I took my old lady cart to wheel around and carry my goods. Whatev. People were jealous. (See what I mean about shortening words? Cool.)
I really wanted to take a picture of the camouflage-lined casket for you, but it just seemed wrong to put a casket on my blog. No matter how ridiculous. Although I guarantee there were some people fired up about it. People here like their camouflage, and I say go with your passion. And just for the record, no, people weren't crafting caskets. The funeral home was there advertising. Because nothing says fun and crafty like a funeral.
At any rate, I did find a cute new addition to my "summer porch."
Although I kinda wish I'd gotten it in camo.

Triumph
Max and I were in Texas all last week, so I am a little behind on "couponing." However, I did manage to score a fabulous deal at Walgreens this week! Here's what I got:
After coupons and rewards? FIVE DOLLARS! Whoo hoo! That's a whole lot of savings!
It breaks down to a quarter for the toothpaste, a quarter for the toothbrush, and about $4.50 for over $20.00 worth of diapers and wipes.
(PS: I did pay a bit more than $5 out of pocket, but I got back rapid rewards to use on my next purchase. I could have split it up into different transactions and paid less out of pocket by using my rewards right away, but I go every week so I don't mind rolling them over. Plus, they are starting to know me in there, so I'm trying to keep it normal!)

Eight Months
Max, today you are EIGHT months old. Henceforth, this day shall be known as the day you learned that you don't have to sit still for pictures....or sit at all. In the past week and a half, you have gone from only sitting up when we put you there to sitting up, crawling, stopping, sitting up, crawling. And repeat. A lot. It cracks me up to see you following me into the kitchen, sitting up in your crib when I come to get you, and getting into everything. And so it has begun!
Here are a few things you are up to right now:
-You are getting more hair! No more Mr. bald guy.
-No teeth. We keep thinking they must be coming and then...nothing.
-You are a crawling machine. It's hilarious to see you zero in on something and go for it.
-You love books and toys but not nearly as much as magazines, hangers, and trash cans.
-You love to bounce in your door jumper.
-You can eat puffs like nobody's business.
-You are getting very vocal, and you laugh at everything. Especially your dad.
-You love to be outside.
-You got in the baby pool last week in Texas. You were a fan.
-I thought you would graduate from your whale bathtub into your bigger blowup bathtub this week. You just crawled right out. So now you just go straight in the tub.
-You are not a fan of face-planting in the tub. Or on the tile. Or on the carpet.
-You are okay with it in your crib.
We are so thankful that God has blessed us with you!
Do I really have to sit here??
I want down!
Here I go!
This is more like it!
Wait...what's on my shirt?
How did I get back up here??
Hurry!
Where can I hide?
Okay...you win.
But I need a toy.
Ha! I laugh in the face of your camera!
Wait for it...
Cheese!

50 by 30...an Update
I haven't written anything about my goal of losing 50 pounds by my 30th birthday in awhile, so I thought I would. Because it's not called accountablity if you talk about it every 3 months. Last month, I hit 15 pounds lost, and for some reason I felt the need to celebrate by eating. And then eating some more. Which isn't exactly what I am going for.
I get SO frustrated with myself, because I know exactly what to do to lose weight. I know what to eat. I know how to exercise. And I tell myself I'm going to do it. And then someone puts a pie in front of me and I eat three pieces. Without even thinking about it. Special occasions turn into "I'll start over next week," even though I know next week will just have its own excuses. And repeat. So...I am still at 15 pounds. Just being honest. Here's hoping I have much better news in the coming weeks!
PS: I am reading this book (again). Here's to keeping my cravings focused where they should be. On God and not the things of this world. Amen.
