On November 3rd, my mom made a casual comment on Facebook about how she would like to go ahead and put Christmas lights in the tree outside the dining room window. That is where my mom and dad are currently pretty much living, and she knew my dad would enjoy the lights. Well, in true social networking fashion, it didn't take long for the word to get out and a plan to form. The young marrieds group at their church happened to be having bible study at the time, and apparently a few of them saw her Facebook post during the study(tsk, tsk...ha!). Before they left that night, they made plans to visit my parents to put up the lights. From there, it kind of...grew.
So, on November 4th, about 50 people showed up at my parents house to pitch in, bringing food and hot chocolate with them. Their music minister came, bringing even more people with him, and led carols outside the dining room window for my dad. Aren't people just great sometimes? It warmed my heart, and I know it meant so much to my parents. What a wonderful example of how a church family is such a wonderful thing to be a part of.
And oh yeah...did I mention they brought a cherry picker??

Amanda, I read this in tears. Praying for strength and peace for your sweet family. I hope you guys have a BLESSED Thanksgiving.
Oh woooow. Beautiful and how stinking sweet! And I loooove the face ha ha
My Dad had carolers last year and we moved the tree so he could see it. He was pretty much bedridden after a stroke two years ago when he lost the ability to walk. We lost him in February and these are the things I like to remember. I love that people care and do things that cheer up not only the patient but their family as well. I pray for your Dad and Mom.
