The Pictures Say it All

I made this pumpkin tonight. I was going to make two more, but I'm going to be honest. They kind of beat me down. Maybe more next year...To make some yourself, go here. Maybe they won't beat you down.

My fabulous Nana gave me this china cabinet. Isn't it great? I love it, and it looks great in my dining room. The picture doesn't really do it justice.

I went to Canton on Saturday, and it was super fun. Here are a couple of things I apparently just had to have. I'll have to post a couple more things later (okay...so I like Canton a lot).

And last but not least, Peter Petrelli is about done.

Because Everyone Deserves a Lifetime

About this time last year I was getting ready and packing my bags to embark on one the most memorable and amazing experiences of my life. I had to make sure I had my cape, my mask, and of course, my fanny pack. A poorly executed Halloween costume? Nope. Last year, with my team "Holy Hooters Batman," I walked 60 miles in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. We trained for months, and I wasn't sure what to expect (besides lots of blisters and muscle pain).

What I saw was a group of men and women that were stronger than I could have ever imagined. What I saw was an elderly man who walked the 60 miles in a boot because his foot was crushed. What I saw were two men in uniform walking the entire way in their army boots. What I saw were women in pink survivor shirts...women whose hair had not even begun to grow back yet after chemo. What I saw was the belief that together we can make a difference.

Now, I had my moments. One very vivid memory has me crouching next to the porta-potties (oh yeah, 3 days of that!) at 3:00 in the morning crying into my cell phone to Mike because I couldn't sleep. It didn't help that I was in a tiny tent with hundreds of other people around me in 30 something degree weather. But even that memory is dulled compared to the others. The crowds of people lined up on the streets cheering you on, the people you meet and the stories they have, and just the sheer craziness of what we were doing! I mean, it's not every weekend you decide to walk 60 miles. But we did it...and the feeling I had after it was over was one of great accomplishment. I don't know if I made a huge difference...but hopefully I made a small one. For our mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends.

Me and my team...Holy Hooters Batman! (Holy Hooters was taken...as was my personal favorite...Saving Second Base...ha!)

Amy and Mike at a cheering station.

My mom representing with the pink hair!

The end of a long day...luckily my mom was right around the corner with Sprinkles cupcakes. When you walk that far, you can eat one!

Tent city...it was actually really fun!

All done! At this point I was only standing because I wasn't sure if I could get up again if I sat! I will admit...my feet have never been the same...but it was totally worth it!

That's Just the Way We Roll...

Oh yeah...we really did this.

Happy Fall Ya'll

It's a little late, but here are some of our fall decorations. I will be entering pumpkin rehab October 31.

My mom brought me some fun new stuff after I took these pictures. I will post it soon.

Chasing Pumpkins

It has been awhile, so I have much to talk about! I should probably break it up over a couple of days. I will say that I went to Target today and could NOT figure out why people were looking at me funny. Until I remembered that I was wearing red snowflake pajamas and UGGs. Oops. The world just doesn't always understand the life of an elementary school teacher.

So...now that my computer is back in working order, here are some things that have been going on:

Last weekend Seth and Jessica had a Pumpkin Carving Party. It was really fun, and it was great to see a lot of people we don't get to see very often since we moved.

This isn't the best picture, but I had to put Sarah on here eating pumpkin innards.

Jess carving.

Me.

I love this kid.

Our pumpkin...his name is Peter Petrelli (because of the scar).

More tomorrow!

Gourmet...or Not

My poor computer is broken, so until I can load me some pictures you are stuck with my randomness. And yes, I know "load me" is poor grammar for those of my family members who are currently judging me.

Have you seen these? I got some at Wal-Mart after the mom told me about them. They are SO good and SO easy for a week night. Grab the box, grab a pound of chicken, and voila. They have all sorts. I don't really know who "they" are, but I like them. Try one when you don't have time to be gourmet-fabulous.

Saturday

Saturday was a rockin' good time here in Frisco. First, a little shopping with Mike (he LOVED it of course!). Then, to Calloway's with Amy to look at all of the fun pumpkins. I don't know if you know this about me, but I am pretty obsessed with pumpkins this year. I think I may need to join Pumpkin Lovers Anonymous. Calloway's had some great pumpkins...I showed great restraint when I did not buy the blue pumpkin!

Saturday evening I went shopping with Hannah while Mike and Sam were at work. This little arrangement will probably get me into trouble. After church, all four of us went to Fireside Pies for Sam's birthday. We definitely had to take some cupcakes from The Cupcakery! Poor Sam gave me the chocolate peanut butter cupcake on his birthday even though he really wanted it...and it was really good. So good that I don't even feel that bad about it...the goodness chased all the guilt away.

New Fall Porch

So I re-did my fall porch today, and I think it is so fun. However, Mike doesn't like it. What do you think? Do I keep it or put it back the old way?

CLARIFICATION: Mike only wants me to take the red pot away...

Wednesday

So as I was driving home today, I had a thought. My senior year of high school, I was voted Most Likely to Be Famous. I realized that this blog will most likely be the closest I ever get to being famous. So, to the four people who read my blog, take a moment to sit in awe. You are witnessing the fruition of a dream here.

More State Fair

Because I am about to go workout (see post about all fair food consumed), I will just leave you with these fun pics of the State Fair and a few words of explanation.

If you aren't eating these corny dogs, you may as well go home.

Sister, Brother, and Mom getting those feet massaged...if you count having your feet vibrated off your body as a massage.

Wow...really?

My brother proving that the State Fair can pretty much heal anything...

Big Tex...or as I like to call him...friend.

Hailey rockin' out with a fried dinner roll. Seriously...one the best things I ate all day.

Who knows...

The Midway Barker. You don't have to feel really sorry for him like I did when I was little. It's just mirrors.

Mike taking down the chicken fried bacon...yum!

My dad with a train...pay no attention to all of his braces...

Hailey and Joe...because we can't leave out Joe!
